"Bride" and "Groom" illegal in CA?
You probably know about Prop. 22 in CA (defining marriage as a man and a woman). You probably also know the courts overturned 22 (as if they had that power)--gotta love "case law". Now the fallout of this idiocy is beginning.
A marriage license with the words "bride" and "groom" (instead of "Party A" and "Party B") has been officially rejected:
The applicants, 'Gideon and Rachel,' wrote the words 'groom' and 'bride' next to 'Party A' and 'Party B' because they wished to have their legal union officially recognized as a covenant between a husband and wife. The County Recorder's Office stated that the State Office of Vital Records deemed the hand written words 'bride and groom' to be an 'unacceptable alternation'.
The marrying pastor is being told essentially that a Godly marriage is no longer accepted in CA. Were I in CA, I would find myself facing a very clear choice: legal marriage vs. Godly marriage. I would easily choose the latter and tell the former to go to hell.
I've said it before, and I'll say again: leave CA. There comes a time when Lot must leave Sodom or be destroyed with it. Perhaps if enough believers left that hellhole, the frog may finally jump out of the frying pan.
